The Holy Cross Church
A strong visual impact was desired for the front of the church from the two adjoining city street views. The higher elevation of the upper terrace at the main entry, stairs that exit in three different directions, raised landscape planters, and semi-circular handicap access ramps together visually complement the front of the church. The cruciform footprint of the main Sanctuary equals 15,660 sq. ft. The covered arcade, men’s and women’s restrooms, alter society, janitor & storage wing equals 1,258 sq. ft. The upstairs choir loft equals 1,540 sq. ft. Total footage of church is 18,458 sq. ft. The total capacity of the church is 1,280 people. Total church site acreage is 13.39 acres. Phase one construction of church, courtyards, parking areas and landscape areas is approximately 4.23 acres. Three step – 7/8" thick traditional stucco was used on the outside wall surfaces with a “California Mission Style” texture. Developed wall thickness ended up at one foot, two and an eighth inches, (1', 2-1/8"). This thicker wall was disadvantageous to replicating & paying homage to the old deep inset “California Mission Style” window and door openings around the exterior walls of the church.
Dayco has worked with Western Milling for many years on multiple projects, including: Commodity Barns (30K-100K SF), Sack barns, Control Rooms, Mechanical and Electrical Rooms, Boiler Rooms and a string of covered loading facilities. To date, we have constructed over 250K SF of pre-engineered metal building structures for this customer.
Most of these projects include concrete work and metal buildings and installation. Earthwork, Electrical, Fire Protection, Plumbing, HVAC, Roll-up Doors and occasionally some Carpentry are also utilized trades at this facility.
Porterville Evangelical Free Church (PEFC) worked with DAYCO and Townsend Architectural Group to design and build a new church facility. at approximately 20K SF, the project used American Buildings Company pre-engineered buildings, McElroy Metals Flashing and Sheet metal and was divided into two separate sections (1 two story and 1 single story). A multi-purpose room is the primary reason for the expansion, which will provide many uses for their youth group.
Beginning with bare ground, earthwork was completed, the slab was poured and the building erected (which was the bulk of DAYCO's scope). The unique look and layout of the panels used on this building were acheived using McElroy panels in varying profiles, orientations and colors. There are several, grand, sloping parapets on two sides of each building. There is also a large mezzanine in the two story building. After completing our scope of work, DAYCO Construction has acted as a consultant to the church and their construction committee, helping them accomplish this wonderful project.
This building consisted of (1) 30' x 50' x 10', single slope, roof only, pre-engineered structure, including a 5'6" perimeter, vertical facade. Portal frame bracing was used to eliminate the X-rod bracing in the sidewalls.
The job started with the demo of the old building. An American Buildings Company building was erected (Roof Only with Facade) to cover the new building and drive thru. New concrete side-walks and paved parking and drive areas, as well as a re-designed landscape were also added. All new finishes and equipment on the inside including the kitchen area and bathroom. The exposed steel columns were covered with stucco to match the new building.
Porterville Developmental Center - 96 Bed Expansion - Generator Building
The Porterville Developmental Center (PDC - State of CA) contracted with Harris Construction, Inc to do the expansion. Harris asked DAYCO to do the Generator/Switchgear building. This building's enormous generators would kick on should the PDC ever experience a massive power outage.
Generator Building has a pre-engineered metal building as a frame work, with insulated panels utilized to wrap the building and help regulate the temperature of the interior. This is important to ensure that the generators turn on immediately without fail in that power outage event.
Mercado, El Progresso has several locations between Porterville and Lindsay, but the wanted to make a presence in Visalia as well. They decided to work with Townsend Architectural Group and DAYCO Construction. This new Visalia facility has all the standard "Super Market" offerings, with several wonderful surprises.
The pre-engineered metal building consists of architectural embossed walls and a Cool White Standing Seam roof system. Dome skylights in the retail/sales area and mezzanine storage areas we used, and conventional framed curtain walls were suspended throughout the facility.
DAYCO worked closely with the owners and Architect to produce a top of the line SuperMarket. This was a turn-key project, with lots of on-site inquiries prior to opening. It's been well received by the Visalia community.
Suncrest Bank opened their first branch in Visalia, several years ago. When they decided to open another branch, they picked Porterville as their second site. DAYCO was awarded the project and utilized local sub-contractors to provide the materials and labor to finish newest of Suncrest branches.
This Tenant Improvement (TI) project was a complete remodel from the floor up. New offices, counters, lights, plumbing, brick veneer, metal roofing, drive-thru canopy and much more was provided. We found it very easy to work with the Bank on their requests, and had a great experience over all.
This was another one of DAYCO's Tenant Improvement (TI) Projects. Charter Communications was getting ready to start their lease in an old bank building. The shell was in great shape, but the interior needed some work. Some of the old tile work needed to be abated and there was a lot of demo, but DAYCO delivered a fantastic finished product even working on a deadline.
When work started, floor demo was a top priority as asbestos was found in the old tile under the carpet. Once it was properly abated, new flooring was installed, new lobby reception areas and office space was added, and everything was painted. Charter's bright blue and green colors were used as the pallet. Fixtures were upgraded, furniture was provided and by the time we were finished, it looked like a completely different building.
Precision Brake & Wheel has been serving the City of Porterville and surrounding areas for years. When they needed to expand by installing a new racking system and storage building, they came to DAYCO. This project was going to incorporate some challenging fire-wall issues, but we were up to the challenge.
On the east side of the new storage building, we had to build a scant 6" off the property line due to space restrictions. This created some fire-wall concerns. We were able to use a newer Fire Resistant Paint System called FireFree88. It worked well, and helped us keep our firewall costs to a minimum.
The building that Young's Commercial Transfer (YCT) decided to utilize as their new facility was the old Vitamin Plant on Scranton Ave., near the airport in Porterville. Compared to their existing location on Lotas, in town, this facility has much more room for staging and expansion. YCT wanted to "gut" the main facility and rebuild new offices inside. They also requested a new kitchen, restrooms, reception and gym. DAYCO also provided new sheeting and trim on the outside of the new office building.
Once DAYCO received the permit, demo inside the building began. After the building was mostly gutted, new framing, sheet rock, paint, flooring, insulation, T-Bar, lighting, cabinetry, tile and plumbing, door and hardware, HVAC and sheet metal work began. This was a full scale remodel that took some time to complete. The facility turned our beautifully, and YCT is very satisfied with their finished product.
The Tule River Economic Development Corporation (TREDC) had their new hanger facility put out to bid on behalf of Porterville Aviation and Tule Aero Industries. DAYCO was awarded the bid. This project included an ABC Steel Building (135' x 150') clear span hanger, with a huge (60+ ft. wide) Horton Stack door for aircraft tarmac access. There is also a two story office structure inside the hanger for crews, pilots and staff to work. There is a lounge, a kitchen and restrooms on both floors.
After clearing some initial hurdles, the work began and the building took shape. It stands next to the first Tule Aero hanger, and is quite a bit larger. This is a wonderful facility and TREDC is pleased with how DAYCO has handled this project.
A multi-tenant, industrial complex, located in the City of Visalia's newly developed industrial park. The owner, Doug Carlton, is a concrete contractor, specializing in stamped and stained concrete surfaces, and used his talent to the extreme in his 3,000 SF office and showroom.
The building is complemented with a split face CMU wall and storefront glass entrances at each tenant space. A very clean and flexible interior layout was used to benefit his tenants. We are proud of Doug's new facility and look forward to working with his talented staff in the future.
This project was a joint venture undertaking with Pickett Construction Corp. The Architect used many vibrant colors, inside and out, to bring this facility to life. Thousands of family members visit the theme park and enjoy the many games and events that are offered, including three (3) full buffet options and five (5) private party rooms. They offer Laser Tag, miniature golf, 2 mini go-kart tracks, arcade games, batting cages and much more.
The theme park is another proven example of the flexibility and advantages that Pre-Engineered Metal Building offer.
One of the largest grain storage facilities in the valley was completed in 2008 by DAYCO Construction and P&F Metal.
The Facility is very efficient, utilizing interior crane-way beams that run the full length and convey grain to concrete bunkers that were poured in place. The building is anchored 10' above grade on poured in place concrete walls, which minimizes loader interference and damage to the building structure. Wall-lites were used to provide lighting on sidewalls.
The roof supports the grain conveying systems which make drops periodically to the interior grain handling assembly to accurately place the product in the bunkers. This design is a new, state of the art, handling method that we are proud to be a part of. We are very excited to have been involved with this project and have developed a reputation in the grain storage business as a leader in "design-build" projects with owners and architects. We appreciate their confidence, trust and relationships.
An 18,000 SF "Design - Build" government office complex for the USDA was constructed utilizing a 100' clear span, Pre-Engineered Building provided by American Buildings Company. This project was constructed in (10) months from start to finish. A total of approximately (48) interior offices and conference rooms, etc, were provided, including 30 miles of computer and communications data wiring throughout.
This office is a hub to the Giant Sequoias and Landmark Redwoods. The landscaping and exterior finish, utilize redwoods and rock to symbolize the park entrance. We are especially proud of the final outcome of this facility.
